Kuari Pass Trek - Trekking in Uttarakhand
  • Kuari Pass Trek - Trekking in Garhwal Himalayas

The Kuari Pass is one of the most beautiful treks, famous for the enchanting view of the snow clapped Peaks of the Garhwal Himalayas. Kuari pass means 'door way'. The main attraction of the trek is the imposing view of the eastern peaks of Garhwal Himalayas, the twin peaks of Nanda Devi (7848m), Kamet (7756m), Dronagiri, Trishul (7120m), Changabang (6864m), Neelkanth (6596m), Kalanka, Chaukhamba (7128m), and others. On a clear day these mountains are giving us a thrilling experience of the Mighty Himalayas, particularly the NANDA DEVI MASSIF. These mountains though far away, appear very close.

In 1905, Lord Curzon reached Kuari Pass (3850m). He made the trek and since then it is also known as the Lord Curzon's trail. The trek passes through Pristine Rhododendron, oak and deodar forest. Rarely Himalayan flora and fauna are found as plenty as on this trail. The Kuari (virgin) Pass treks is a highly varied and scenic trek which passes through three lesser Passes and five major rivers – the Pindar, Kaliganga, Nandakini, Birehiganga and Dhauliganga. There are two ways through which one can reach the Kauri Pass. One is through the Curzon Trail i.e from Ghat via Ramni and the other route is from Auli Bugyal via Gorson top. The trek through Ghat is a Nature lover's paradise with some exotic flora and fauna on display, plus the meadows of Auli and Gorson add to the completeness of experiencing the entire display of Himalayan splendors.
